Membership requirements:

• Should have written at least one article with a title that is similar to:

“10 books you should read before you die”

“5 books that are life changing”

“12 books you should read in your 20's”

• Knowledge bandwidth of a 12-year-old (where everything is fucking fascinating or life-changing)
• Strongly advise other people to read a bunch of books even though you haven’t read most of them
• Read a lot — but understand very little.

The majority of people here and on Twitter who create such lists are one more reason why our daily feed is an absolute crap fest.

Circle-jerking to the same set of books and never getting out of that shithole because — “engagement” baby. Because these lists are one of the best engagement baits.

But as a reader, who truly wants to learn and understand will never get to the good stuff because those books get buried…
